The Importance of SEO in Marketing
So, you’ve recently had a website built and your Marketing Agency has offered you SEO as an additional service… but what even is SEO and why is it important?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is a fancy way of saying that these are the techniques that allow Google and other search engines to find your website more easily. Many choices on your website can impact it’s SEO score, anything from the locations of certain heading tags in the page to the specific wording you use in your blog posts or if you even have an active blog on your website at all!
So, let’s dive into a few of the methods we use when we build a website to ensure our customer’s place in those ever-important listings.
- Rank Math SEO Pro
I would be remiss if I did not mention one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal, a plugin for WordPress that we like so much we have it set up to install itself as soon as we start setting up a website. Rank Math provides a suite of tools that gives us an incredible amount of fine control over exactly what we want Google to see about our website such as providing Google with your company’s business hours, analyzing the meta tags that are displayed to your user to ensure that everyone can read them in their Google searches when they try to find your site and even analysis of the wording used in blog posts based upon a point system to help you know how readable your blog is.
- Keyword Analysis
Speaking of that point system, let’s take a moment to discuss Keyword Analysis, which is the process of identifying certain terms that your users use when attempting to find your products. When we do Keyword Analysis, we will pick terms related to your product or service and run them through Google or other search engines to find out if a large number of people use that term, ensure that there are not a large number of competitors or a number of much larger firms in your field utilizing the keyword so that you can be sure that you’ll show up relatively highly in the rankings for your end user, and we also attempt to pick terms that your users may associate with your product but may struggle to find similar services with.
These and many other factors help influence how Google places your website in their search and can be the difference between being on the first page and the third!
